Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, and King Charles III loves to spend his weekends in this stunning fortress. Built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror, the castle is still a favorite residence of the royal family.

This sprawling grand home covers an area of 13 acres and overlooks charming Windsor town – pay the castle a visit and find out why our royals have lived here for centuries!
  • Explore the State Apartments, home to fine art from Rembrandt, Rubens, and Da Vinci.
  • Marvel at Queen Mary’s Dolls House, a miniature replica of an aristocratic residence.
  • Visit St George’s Chapel, the resting place of several British monarchs.
  • Witness the Changing of the Guard ceremony, a vibrant British tradition at 11:00 am Monday to Saturday.

  • You MUST print the voucher and exchange it at the ticket office for an entry ticket.
  • Please note St George’s Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays.
  • As a working royal palace, the Castle is used frequently by The King for State ceremonies and official entertaining, and closures can occasionally occur at short notice.
  • Under 5's go free.
  • In order to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit, we have closed a small number of rooms where social distancing cannot be easily maintained including Queen Mary's Dolls House. We hope to reopen these spaces soon and when it is safe to do so.

- The Castle will remain open on Good Friday, 18 April 2025.
- The Castle will be closed on 16 June 2025 and 25–26 December 2025
- The Semi-State Rooms at Windsor Castle are currently open until 30 March 2025 (subject to change).


St. George’s Chapel

St George’s Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day. Visitors to the Castle on Sundays will not be able to enter the chapel or view the burial place of Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House is currently closed for planned improvement works.

By car: To reach Windsor Castle, head southwest on London Rd/B470 to reach your destination. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto London Rd/B376/B470. Take the 1st exit onto High St./B470 at the next roundabout. Turn right onto Windsor Rd./B470, then turn left onto Thames St./B3022. Finally, turn left onto Chapter Mews, and your destination will be on the right. GPS navigation is advised. 

 

By public transportation: You can take various buses to reach your destination, such as Bus 207. Take bus 207 towards the Brocas Street stop and take a short four-minute walk. 

 

By taxi: You can easily reach your destination by taking a cab or a ride-hailing app.
