The award-winning play 1536 transfers to the Ambassadors Theatre in London’s West End. Set in Tudor England during the reign of King Henry VIII, the story follows three women in rural Essex who hurry to their childhood meeting place, eager for gossip arriving from London.

Rumours spread of a growing clash between the King and his Queen, Anne Boleyn. As news of the royal scandal travels across the country, the women begin to see unsettling parallels between the turmoil at court and the tensions within their own community. What begins as speculation soon develops into a dangerous tide of fear and violence that threatens their very existence.

Directed by Lyndsey Turner, the production explores the powerful intersection of royal politics and everyday life, revealing how distant decisions from the throne can reshape ordinary lives. 1536 is produced in the West End by Sonia Friedman Productions, Annapurna Theatre, and the Almeida Theatre.

The creative team includes Set and Costume Designer Max Jones, Lighting Designer Jack Knowles, Sound Designer Tingying Dong, Movement and Intimacy Director Anna Morrissey, Composer and Arranger Will Stuart, and Casting Director Amy Ball CDG.
